Blackberry Galore

Very nice day today.

Started off with tea with my neighbor in my backyard. We chatted about various things mostly about writing as she is very gifted and talented, and in process of finding her way to publish new works. She is also a great company and conversation. She admired all the work that was done on my yard, I'll keep plodding little at a time hopefully I'd whack all those blackberries by year end. There were a few ripe today, pretty good..

Did a little more work on my thesis stuff, think I figured out the problem but hesitant to fix.... been there before, need to use someones software and then find out its broken in some way, and it needs fixing. Just makes me nervous, as I want to be focusing on collecting the data not spending my time fixing bugs. We'll sort it out Monday. The good news is that I've been successful in contacting other researchers and gaining their support.

Congratulations to Mark Heller

Congratulations to Mark Heller on successfully passing his Master's Thesis oral defense! His thesis, entitled "Virtual World Development With Ontologies", is available on his thesis wiki.

Our apologies for not issuing an invitation to the defense. It got rescheduled, and there was insufficient time to notify folks.

Sigma Xi Poster Contest Huge FOB Success

The 2005 Willamette Valley Sigma Xi Poster Contest was held Thursday at PSU. The FOB team had 9 posters there, out of a total of around 75 overall. All the posters (FOB and other) were really nice. Emma Kuo and James LaMar won the outstanding poster award in the undergraduate math/science/engineering division for the Bismarck poster. Thanks to everyone who made it possible!

Check out Judy's fine snapshots in the Image Gallery.
