Yesterday was my boy Ben's 7th birthday. He's growing up so fast! Cliché, yet so true...
Ben had a pile of his friends over; his Mom made him a pyramid-shaped cake for his Yu-Gi-Oh themed party. He's all about the Yu-Gi-Oh these days; can't get enough of it. I played NetRunner fairly obsessively a while a few years back, so I understand. Still, Yu-Gi-Oh is a poorly thought out game with poorly thought out cards, and it's expensive, even by CCG standards. But it's making him really happy, it's helping him learn to read, and he's learning to play a quite complex game well. So all in all, it's OK.
A physician friend of mine and his physical therapist have a great idea for a therapeutic machine. Our friends from Seattle were down so their boy could attend Ben's party, so I took the Dad to meet Doc and PT. Dad is a skilled mechanical engineer. Doc and PT have a simplified prototype of the device; we will probably try to build a full demonstrator.
I need to get to bed earlier and still get up late for a few nights. I'm just about crippled from lack of sleep. Once my sleep deficit has been erased for a few days, I think my performance on various tasks will improve. Also, I can quit guzzling coffee, which is really bad for me for various medical reasons.
Too many interests, too many things to do, too little time. Onward and upward ever; forward and on and on. G'night.
