I figure I have a day or so of backlog from extra postings on this site. In addition, I've made several postings over the last few weeks to my semi-anonymous blog, and a couple to my private journal files. All in all, I figure I have about 7 days of backlog, which is enough to get by some fairly serious lossage.
The downside of this furious blogging and journaling is that my regular work and other projects are falling behind. I will try to cut back to one entry per night now, and keep the entries a bit shorter. Otherwise I'll never even clear my email queue.
The whole question of whether to have a backlog is widely discussed in the webcomics community. One of the principal objections to backlogging is that backlogged content is delivered stale. I'll admit that I'm of the opinion that backlog material should consist of extra material posted early, to achieve permission to slack from the readership (ha) of the serialized publication. The "invisible backlog" thing makes a lot of sense in the newspaper and periodical world, where predictability is king. It may make less sense in a world of asynchronous delivery and automatic notification.
Anyway, just when I should be hitting ORblogs is a lousy time to slack. Heck, it's even a lousy time for two META postings in a row. I'll try to get back to my normal, sparkling (ha) content now. Thanks for your indulgence.
