A Retraction

More than a year ago, I firmly recommended the web comic, "Dr. McNinja". Since that time, I've enjoyed so many of the tri-weekly pages. The humor, art and story lines have all been exceptional.

I've purchased a couple of hilarious T-shirts from the website, to give as gifts. My best friend describes his T-shirt as "my favorite shirt".

Between episodes, the creators of "Dr. McNinja" publish one-page guest comics. The guest comics use the characters from "Dr. McNinja", but are written and drawn by guest artists. They are seldom very interesting or creative, but it gives the creators a chance for a vacation, their colleague admirers a chance to show their appreciation for Dr. McNinja.

On Friday, all of this exceptionality came to a grinding halt. A guest comic was published which was openly supportive of Adolph Hitler, and openly anti-semitic. It was so shocking, so revolting and so surprising that I had to read it four or five times to make sure I wasn't "missing something".

I did email the creators of "Dr. McNinja" and ask for an explanation. I don't see what explanation is possible, but I felt I should give them the opportunity.

I'll post any follow-up response from the creators here. Until then, please DO NOT patronize these talented, hilarious, energetic and fundamentally evil people.

There's nothing funny about Hitler and there's nothing funny about genocide. The Holocaust is not entertainment.

Update

After one day and two strongly worded emails, the Nazi comic page has been taken down. The only explanation the authors gave was "We didn't notice" which is so laughable it isn't funny.

It's very reassuring to know that there was enough pressure applied to get the material removed. I have archived the offending page if anyone needs to see it for any reason, just let me know via email. I've purposely omitted any direct links in this post. That's the kind of publicity which these racists do not deserve.
