One of the challenges in The Kingdom of Loathing right now involves participating in a number of adventures equal to the total number of items received in the song The Twelve Days of Christmas (don't ask). Thus, it is natural to wonder how many such items there are. It turns out that there are 364 of them—just one less than one per day for an entire year. What a pretty little coincidence.
The math that gets this number is elementary, but kind of interesting, I guess. I also want to use this math as an illustration of Mathmark, my proposed standard notation for ASCII mathematics.
